I had loads of fun facilitating a high-energy day-long session with the Museum of Flight’s large board of directors and their guests. An entertaining 25-minute presentation introduced visitor motivation and visit experience frameworks. With that in mind, participants engaged in lively, guided discussions to expand their thinking about who makes up the MoF’s audience, what they need, and what they bring to the table (asset mindset). Everyone had a great time, and the event succeeded in infusing volunteer leaders with new ways to think about visitors and institutional mission. This was a key part of senior leadership’s laying the groundwork for strategic planning and a renewal of the mission statement.
